Reyes to DL

And in the "Of Course This Would Happen" category...

Jose Reyes, who was supposed to be day-to-day, will end up going on the disabled list, retroactive to last Sunday. Reyes will likely miss three weeks, and Nick Evans will be called up from Buffalo to take his place on roster.

Even with the optimism of earlier in the week, when it seemed Jose would miss the LA series, the whole week tops, there had to be a nagging voice in the back of Mets fans' subconscious, telling them, "He's not alright."

I suppose this is better than the alternative option: rush him back too early, end up making it worse, then he's done for the year, a la 2009, but it's still deflating to see your best player, your spark plug, go on the disabled list. And lest we forget Ike Davis-gate: now the nagging voice is gonna start saying, "He's done for the year." All we can do now is hope that the less-than-competent Mets team doctors can show a flash of competency and get a healthy Jose Reyes back on the field ASAP.
